Joining us at Fife College means you can get involved in a range of initiatives to help tackle the climate emergency, such as:
-
Sustainable travel: we encourage sustainable travel by being a cycle-friendly campus and providing opportunities for e-bike hire for students. For staff, we encourage sustainable travel via cycle-to-work schemes, e-bikes, subsidised bus tickets, electric/hybrid car salary sacrifice schemes, car-sharing pools and the ability to book our electric cars for any business travel using our net zero pool car fleet.
-
Circular economy: we offer a number of initiatives and events throughout the year, such as ‘Swap Shop’ events and a ‘Too Good to Go’ food waste initiative. Each campus has extensive recycling facilities with less than 5% of our waste going to landfill.
-
Engagement: We run events, campaigns and initiatives for everyone to get involved throughout the year. Some of these are run from our Climate Hub at the Dunfermline campus where students and staff can find out about how the College is addressing the climate emergency, as well as a space to share and learn what we can do on an individual level to take climate action.
-
Training: Climate Literacy training is offered to students and staff as we aim to achieve Gold Carbon Literate Educator accreditation and aiming to be the first college in Scotland to obtain this accreditation.
-
Volunteering: you can get involved in a whole range of events organised by our environmental partners, such as Climate Action Fife and Greener Kirkcaldy.
