This short course is designed to update experienced gas engineers enabling them to prove their competence in the ACS assessments.

For engineers renewing existing ACS tickets - one to two days
For engineers adding categories for the first time, additional training and assessment will be required. Duration will be dependant on the number of appliances undertaken and associated RWE training (circa two to four days)
Certificates are valid for five years. Holders are eligible for reassessment within six months of expiry. ** Candidates should contact Centre staff for current regulatory requirements regarding training for Initial and Reassessment programs**

The programme is aimed at qualified domestic engineers wishing to upskill to include domestic appliances - cookers, fires and boilers. It is also for engineers looking to renew their existing domestic appliance tickets.

CENWAT1 Central Heating Boilers/Water Heaters
Designed to test the gas safety competences of an operative in the work of install, exchange, disconnect, service, repair and commission open flued, balanced flued, natural draught and fan assisted, central heating/hot water boilers and circulators, condensing boilers, back boiler units, combination boilers and combination units. Designed to also test the gas safety competences of an operative in the work of install, exchange, disconnect, service, repair and commission flueless instantaneous water heaters (input not exceeding 12kW) and open flued balanced and fan flued instantaneous water heaters (input exceeding 12kW).
HTR 1 Fire and Wall HeatersDesigned to test the gas safety competences of an operative in the work of install, exchange, disconnect, service, repair and open flued gas fire (radiant/convector), open flued inset live fuel effect gas fire (ILFE), open flued decorative fuel effect fires (DFE) balanced flue gas fire and balanced fan assisted wall heater.

CKR 1 Domestic CookersDesigned to test the gas safety competences of an operative in the work of install, exchange, disconnect, service, repair and commission free standing and slide-in cookers, built-in hot plates, built-in/under ovens and grill units.
