Who is this course for?

This qualification is for those in employment in a painting and decorating role.

What qualifications will I gain?

MA Construction Building: Painting and Decorating at SCQF Level 6

What will I learn on the course?

This is a four-year Modern Apprenticeship programme, broken down as follows;

  • Year 1 – Block release, totalling 19 weeks in college with the remaining time work-based with the employer
  • Year 2 – Block release, totalling 11 weeks in college with the remaining time work-based with the employer
  • Year 3 – All work-based with exception of one week at college for refresher training
  • Year 4 – All work-based with exception of one week at college to complete the requisite Skills Test
  • To enrol on a Modern Apprenticeship in Painting and Decorating you must be in full time employment in a job where you’ll have regular opportunities to practice the skills necessary to become a qualified Painter and Decorator.

At college

  • SQA PDA in Painting & Decorating at SCQF Level 6

In the workplace

  • SQA SVQ in Painting and Decorating (Construction) at SCQF Level 6
