This programme is aimed at experienced gas engineers wishing to be reassessed in this category.

What will I learn on the course?

The Core Domestic Natural Gas Safety course is delivered over three days and comprises the following core competencies:
  • Gas Safety Regulations;
  • Gas Emergency Actions and Procedures;
  • Characteristics of Combustion;
  • Ventilation, Installation of Pipework and Fittings;
  • Test of Soundness;
  • Checking and/or Setting Meter Regulators;
  • Identification of Unsafe Situations and the Use of Emergency Notices and Warning Labels;
  • The Operating and Checking of Appliance Gas Safety Devices and Controls;
  • Flueing Standards;
  • Flue Testing;
  • Installation of Open Flues;
  • Balanced and Fan Assisted Flue Assemblies;
  • Re-establish Existing Gas Supply and Relight Appliances;
  • The Operating and Setting Appliance Burner Pressures and Gas Rates.

The incorporated CPA1 element is designed to test the gas safety competence of an operative in the work of carrying out combustion performance gas analysis on gas fired appliances. You will also be assessed on combustion performance analysis during the CCN1 assessment. Certificates are valid for five years. Holders are eligible for reassessment within six months of expiry. ** Candidates should contact Centre staff for current regulatory requirements regarding training for Initial and Reassessment programs**
