Up to 80% of people suffer from back pain or injury at some time as a result of poor manual handling. The course focuses on reducing risk, with practical work and a basic understanding of movement theory, and it can be biased to loads that are objects or people.

Who is this course for?

This course is for anyone who manually lifts, lowers, pushes, pulls, carries, or otherwise moves, holds, or restrains loads, and can be biased to loads that are objects or people

What will I learn on the course?

This course provides an understanding of human kinetics (lifting techniques). For the individual, this will provide the knowledge to safely move loads with reduced risk of stress, strain or injury. For employers, this will help to meet the requirements of the current legislation, and to reduce absence, and costs, due to injury.

This course uses practical demonstration simulating the working environment, video presentations, and supplementary theory. It takes half a day to complete and is available throughout the year within Fife College premises or in the workplace, as requested by employers.
