Next Steps: Skills for Life (School Pupils Only)

This course is designed to provide students with the necessary skills and preparation to successfully transition to college during their final year of school. It is intended to prepare them for progression into the full-time Award: Adult Learning and Transition. Specifically tailored for individuals with additional support needs, this transition course aims to assist students in achieving their personal goals and promoting independence while enrolled in college. Participants will have the chance to enhance their current skills and capabilities.

  • One half day until the October break

Who is this course for?

This transition course is specifically catered to individuals with additional support needs. The course aims to assist students in achieving their individual goals, fostering independence while in college, and enhancing their existing skills.

What skills will I learn?

The curriculum will cover units such as Getting to Know College and Knowing About Myself, which are ideal for students to work on in preparation for full-time college attendance in the following year.
Students will also gain skills in Organisation, Communication, Digital skills and Problem solving
Students will also have the chance to explore various subjects through taster sessions and visit different parts of the college to gain a better understanding of all that the college has to offer.

What further study options are available?

Upon successful completion of the course, a positive ILR, a good attendance record and the ability to work at level 1 or 2 students would be considered for
Level 1 Adult Learning and Transition - Award Intermediate: Level 2 Personal Development and Personal Achievement Award

Voluntary and paid employment depending on the students own interests and abilities
