COURSE INFORMATION
This is a supported progression course for young people who are interested in a career in construction. On successful completion, this course will enable you to progress on to an SCQF Level 4 course in this curriculum area.
The skills that will be developed during this course will help you to achieve employment within the construction industry as follows:
- Employability
- Problem solving
- Numeracy
- Communications
- Hand skills
- Confidence
- One year full-time
- 24 hours per week
A range of personal development units, including:
- Practical abilities; self and work; self-awareness
- Developing skills for employment
- The Core Skills of ICT, numeracy and communication will be developed and certificated on this course
A range of built environment subjects including:
- Painting and decorating
- Carpentry and joinery
- General building
- Brickwork
- Successful completion of a School Transition Form.
- You may be required to take part in an informal conversation as part of the application process. This group/individual conversation may be an information session, a portfolio discussion, or a skills based exercise.
- Possible progression to mainstream courses at SCQF Level 4.
Employment within a wide range of built environment jobs such as:
- Painting and decorating
- Carpentry and joinery
- Plumbing
- Brickwork
- Modern Apprenticeships in various vocational fields
- All PPE will be supplied by the college for this course.
- You may be required to take part in an informal conversation as part of the application process. This group/individual conversation may be an information session, a portfolio discussion, or a skills based exercise.
