Progress to a degree
Did you know that studying for an HNC or HND qualification is the equivalent of first year (HNC) or second year (HND) of a degree at university? Our courses provide articulation routes for direct entry to either year 2 or 3 of a related degree at a wide range of our partner universities.
So studying at Fife College can be a more cost-effective, local alternative route to the same degree in Scotland, in the same amount of time!

Certificate: Access to Construction
This is a supported progression course for young people who are interested in a career in construction. On successful completion, this course will enable you to progress on to an SCQF Level 4 course in this curriculum area.
Certificate: Construction Futures
This introductory course gives hands on experience of what a future in construction could be. Delivered over 3 days on campus in either Dunfermline or Glenrothes, you will try your hand at basic joinery, painting & decorating, brickwork and construction operations in the workshop to build your understanding of each of these trades and help you to decide which route is right for you. You will also participate in some classroom-based theory units to support a deeper understanding of the construction industry in general and build your core skills.
Construction Futures with Retrofit: Certificate
This introductory program provides an ideal mix of hands-on training and classroom study to give you an insight into what a future in construction retrofit might be. Gaining a strong foundation in basic construction methods and an underpinning knowledge of retrofit and green skills, this course is designed to put you at the forefront of the construction industry.
Level 3 Diploma in Gas Engineering (9074)
This qualification is aimed at new entrants into the gas industry who wish to be trained in the skills and knowledge associated with basic and complex gas systems. This includes the routine maintenance, reactive maintenance, and commissioning and de-commissioning of gas appliances in a variety of work environments.
HNC: Fabrication Welding and Inspection SCQF Level 7 Group-A
The core of the HNC is the principles that underly the fabrication and welding industry. You will understand industrial practice in your local industry, the use of materials, and the effects of processes on their mechanical, physical and chemical properties.
National Certificate: Architecture and Interior Design SCQF Level 6
The construction industry is estimated to grow exponentially in Scotland over the next 5 years. Architecture and Interior Design is the human face of this industry. We consider the needs of the people who will visit and live in the homes, bars, restaurants, hospitals and schools currently being constructed across the country. Our NC Architecture and Interior Design course at Fife College will give you the opportunity to work across a number of innovative design briefs across the year to develop the skills required to succeed in a career in this industry. Fife College prides itself on celebrating the achievements of our talented students and so you will participate in a faculty end of year exhibition which will give you the opportunity to showcase all of your hard work to your family & friends and perhaps potential employers!
National Progression Award: Building Services: Plumbing and Electrical SCQF Level 5
This course is aimed at those who have an interest in following a career in building services and focuses on introductory practical and theoretical units in the specific areas of plumbing and domestic electrical installation.
National Progression Award: Carpentry and Joinery
The course will allow you to gain an understanding of knowledge and practical hand skills within a construction related environment, to allow you to be employed by local or regional construction businesses. This SCQF Level 5 programme will develop your hand skills with regards Carpentry & Joinery which are required to be completed within large or small construction projects.
