Business students from the College have demonstrated their entrepreneurial flair and community spirit by raising £400 for Maggie’s and Victoria Hospice during a charity fundraising event at the Kirkcaldy Campus.
Intermediate Certificate Business and Enterprise students meticulously planned and hosted the event, showcasing their dedication to both their studies and supporting vital local charities.
The fundraising project, launched earlier this year, saw students take on a variety of roles, from designing and producing new products to marketing the event and securing donations from local businesses. The event exceeded expectations, raising a significant £400 for the two worthy causes.
This successful initiative adds to the students’ impressive record of fundraising this year, with a total of over £3,000 raised for Maggie’s and Victoria Hospice across three events.
Zia Parke, class representative, reflected on the success, saying:
“I am overjoyed that my team managed to raise a massive £400 for two excellent charities. Everyone worked incredibly hard to create products and promote the event. We really gave 100%, and it’s so rewarding to see that effort pay off knowing the funds will support such important causes. This experience has also helped us apply everything we’ve learned about Entrepreneurship, Marketing, and Selling Skills.”
Lecturer Karen Dyce, praised the students’ achievements, adding:
“I was extremely proud of the hard work and determination shown by the Business and Enterprise students while planning and implementing the event. The passion, creativity, and teamwork they demonstrated were inspiring to witness. A special thank you goes to all the staff, students, friends, family, and local businesses who supported the event.”
To mark the culmination of their efforts, the students visited both Maggie’s and Victoria Hospice to deliver a hamper created from leftover stock, along with the £400 donation.
