Jemma Greig has become the first Fife College student to win first place at The Scottish Association of Painting Craft Teachers (SAPCT) Annual Craft and Advanced Craft competition.
Jemma, from Crombie, won the top prize in the Advanced Craft section, becoming both the first Fife College student and the first female to receive this honour since the competition began.
The SAPCT’s annual competition, renowned for its rigorous standards and advanced craft challenges, recognises students' exceptional skills and craftsmanship. Painters and decorators representing schools, colleges and firms from all across Scotland participated in this year’s event at Forth Valley College’s Falkirk Campus.
Jemma, who is studying the National Progression Award (NPA) Painting and Decorating course, was joined on the Advanced Craft winners’ podium by her fellow Fife College student, Ross Hood, who secured second place, and Kara Ashton from Forth Valley College, who finished third.
Jemma said:
“My time at Fife College has been a great learning experience. All the staff have been nothing but supportive and coming first place in the advanced craft competition has been the icing on the cake for me"
Andy Morrison, Jemma’s lecturer, said:
“We are immensely proud of Jemma's success. Her dedication, talent, and hard work have truly paid off, and this achievement is a testament to her exceptional skills.
“Jemma has set a new benchmark and her historic win is an inspiration to us all. It also underscores our commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment where all our students can thrive.”
