My story
From a young age I was surrounded by art, music and theatre. I grew up in Largoward, in a household that encouraged all forms of art. It was evident from around the age of 15, after doing lots of youth theatre and music, that this was the right path for me.
I started my training at Fife College, completing an HNC in Musical Theatre and studied there for one year. The course was very much a stepping stone for me, giving me time to research material to audition for The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow where I studied BA Musical Theatre for three years.
Before graduating from RCS, I landed my first job at the National Theatre in London as part of the Peter Gynt cast. It was overwhelming at first, but what an incredible experience, it felt as though I was learning from some great actors.
Panto at The Tron Theatre in Glasgow was truly joyous, being part of an all female retelling of Cinderella was so much fun.
I was mid-tour with a Vanishing Point production of Kafka’s, The Metamorphosis, when the lockdown measures were introduced.
Covid was challenging however with fellow actors and artists we turned our talents to producing a story/colouring book for children and adults in isolation which was a great success. We raised money for Age UK.
Since then I have done various jobs to keep myself going, working in nurseries and nannying. I then joined Kick The Door Theatre Company and we put on a production of a new Scottish musical set in Paisely.
Now I am looking forward to starting rehearsals for Dundee Rep’s Christmas show, Cinderella, where I will be playing Ella. This is a new musical and I cannot wait to get started.
