My name is Emma Cornforth, and I am a lecturer in the Travel and Tourism Department at Fife College. I have been working in Fife College for seven years now. Prior to that, I was cabin crew for two airlines. One of which was based out of London Heathrow, British Midland. The other was with Flybe, a regional airline out of Edinburgh Airport. I worked with Flybe for about 10 years. I was Cabin Manager for both jobs, and I helped with recruitment also.
My role as a lecturer in Fife College involves me delivering classes predominantly based on cabin crew and airport ground operations. I have live experience in the industry that I bring to my role. As well as teaching and facilitating learning, I enhance this with stories and little tales from industry.
You can expect support in abundance. We are a very supportive faculty, providing you are ready to learn and are enthusiastic to study. We will do our very best to help, support and nurture you through your course. We do not just deliver our units to you; we prepare you for industries and have contacts in aviation. We help with arranging mock interviews to give you the best possible chance of getting that job at the end of your course.
The best thing about working at Fife College is the people. Not only my work colleagues, but my students as well. As much as I am here to help them achieve units, they have taught me so much since I have been here, which is amazing. We get to know each other quite well over the years of them studying in the College. My colleagues are so supportive of me also. They have helped me massively develop as a lecturer since the day I joined.
