National Certificate: Engineering Systems (Renewable Energy)

Date:
April 2025

My career has been built around motor vehicle engineering, and I have achieved Master Technician/Consultant Technician level and worked with motorsport teams as a technician.

I decided that I wanted to expand my skills and explore opportunities in the renewable energy sector. So, I enrolled in the Engineering Systems (Renewable Energy) National Certificate at Fife College’s Rosyth Campus, which is delivered in the Shell Energy Transition Skills Hub. The course gave me valuable training in engineering fundamentals, reinforcing my existing skills while introducing me to new concepts and disciplines.

I’ve found the course to be very informative and interesting and also felt my previous training, skills, and experience have complemented my studies well. I thoroughly enjoyed the maths and electrical principles units and feel they have given me a good grounding to further expand my knowledge and understanding of various engineering systems.

I’ve improved and built upon my maths and electrical principles knowledge. I have greater confidence in my abilities to adapt and to learn more in-depth mathematical and electrical principles theory, and I plan to use this new confidence to further develop and enhance my skills. The course also helped me discover a passion for design and technical drawing, further broadening my career prospects.

I’m hopeful that my previous experience, coupled with the training and study from this course, will bolster my job-seeking opportunities in the future.
